What we do

The SSC Events Group (former WeAct Students) is a community of students who are convinced that each person can contribute to the preservation of the environment by making small changes to their everyday lifestyle, without compromising their quality of life!

We organize events and get-togethers to encourage fellow students to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and make the world a little greener. We also provide information on how anybody can easily make small changes that reduce their environmental impact.

Our aim is to give students a chance to be a part of an environmentally friendly movement while having fun and making new friends. We believe that, together, we can make a positive change.

Join us at our events and look at the following information to get to know how you can contribute to a more sustainable society!

Our Team

We are an active team of students from all over the world engaged for sustainability. If you are interested to help us organize events please:

Why should we act?

With every year that passes by, humanity’s impact on the world’s natural systems is becoming increasingly apparent:

“Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia. The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have diminished, and sea level has risen.”

Climate Change 2014 Synthesis Report,
by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

“Climate change is no longer some far-off problem. It is happening here. It is happening now.”

Barack Obama, at the GLACIER Conference 2015

Switzerland is not spared from the effects of climate change, as can be observed from the decreasing snow cover of the Alps.

You will probably agree with us if we say these are depressing facts. However, there is good news!

Just by making different choices in your everday life, it is possible to significantly reduce your environmental impact. It’s simple and will make you feel good!

How to act

How much of global greenhouse gas emissions comes from food consumption? 31%
How much of Swiss household greenhouse gas emissions are due to transportation? 19%
How much of the energy used in Switzerland is consumed in households? 29%

A lot, isn’t it? The good news are that we can make that much better! So let’s see what we can improve in these three areas.
