The Communication Team is responsible for making our work at SSC known to students and staff at ETH. This means designing posters, creating Insta posts, writing a regular newsletter, keeping the website up to date... Being visible and attractive online and on campus is crucial. We aim to make sustainability a core value at ETH and encourage good green habits in everyday routines.
If you have skills and interest in this area, we’d love to welcome you to the team! Get in touch with communication@ssc.ethz.ch (Ümmi Armagan).
Hello! I’m Ümmi, a soon to be chemist graduate (hopefully). When I’m not huddled over a table questioning why I have to do quantum mechanics (I just wanted to make things explode) you can find me (still huddled over my table) satisfying my curiosity with some bioinformatics. Other than that, my moral compass urges me to spread sustainability, social justice and similar ideals! Also I REALLY enjoy cooking some vegan comfort food for the people around me :D
What we call the Coordination Team is essentially our vice-president. S*he is responsible for keeping SSC running smoothly, i.e. scheduling board meetings, taking care of administrative duties and organizing internal social events, such as the Vegan Summer Barbeque or the SSC Retreat every semester.

I’m Adrian, 3rd year Bachelor student in mathematics. I joined SSC in 2018/19 and have since then been part of our Events Team. It’s a pleasure to contribute to our commission among so many open-minded and committed people! When I’m not coordinating our Teams in SSC, you’re likely to find me proving theorems in the math library, reading a good novel or just enjoying my student life with my friends.
The Development Team is the core engine of SSC when it comes to catalysing institutional change at ETH. Hot topics are chosen according to the interests of each team member. Currently, we emphasize flight reduction, divestment and food. We work closely with the official office ETH Sustainability, are in frequent contact with various ETH bodies (e.g. ETH Mobility Platform, SGU, Environmental Commission...) and keep developing our network with research institutions (e.g. World Food Systems Center), ETH spinoffs (e.g. myclimate) and other Swiss student organizations (e.g. VSS-VSN).

My name is Kristóf and I am a PhD student in D-MAVT at ETH. I joined SSC at the end of HS2019 as I wanted to work on reducing food waste on campus. It is a personal topic for me as if it was not for RestEssBar Winti, I would have struggled much more in my first year in Switzerland. I joined the Development team and later formed a subgroup handling food related projects. This year, I coordinate the Development team to support our members to reach the goals of their visionary projects leading to a more sustainable future at ETH. If you are an early bird, you can find me in a rowing boat on Zürisee, hiking or running regardless of the weather but most probably spending unhealthy amount of time exploring the world of music.
Our Events Team is an enthusiastic bunch who put their heads together every week to brainstorm and organize both social and intellectual events. Cooking classes, hiking trips, movie screenings, talks, book readings... the formats are diverse! The regular SSC beer is a favourite for newcomers – join us for a (non) alcoholic drink to share your thoughts and ideas or simply to meet new friends with the same green values.

My name is Nela and I am a Master student in Business and Economics. I joined SSC almost two years ago, and I am very happy to be a part of this great community. Through SSC, I have been able to have a direct impact on what’s happening at ETH and to promote the message of sustainability in the broad sense. I have also learned a lot about diverse topics, joined some interesting discussions, and made friends. Besides my activities in SSC, I am working on my Master thesis, reading books or listening to interesting podcasts, going on walks along the lake, or hiking in the mountains. In light of the current situation, SSC has been able to switch most of its events to online format. This semester, we are happy to be able to continue organising talks, panel discussions, workshops and a quiz night, also in collaboration with experts in various topics. I am looking forward to seeing you at our events!
Money, money, money... Yes, SSC also has a budget that wants to be taken care of. Currently, we are funded by VSETH. If, however, you have skills in managing external relations and want to increase our apéro budget, feel free to take on this role and reach out to potential sponsors!

My name is Blandine and I am working on my Master in Food Science. I joined SSC in 2018 and since then have been active in the Events group. I very much enjoy the atmosphere in the group and everybody's motivation to bring awareness about subjects that are close to our hearts. When I am not studying, or taking care of the SSC budget, I like to walk outside or create my clothes as sustainably as possible.
Salut and 你好! My name is Anna, I’m a 3rd year physics Bachelor student who loves not only topological phenomena in condensed matter or the beautiful (and useful!) world of category theory or giving spontaneous mini-lectures about the expanding universe to inquisitive baristas or... :p but also has a green streak burning in her heart! I’ve been president of SSC since March 2020. Bringing all our members' strengths and motivation to play in the SSC symphony fills me with joy. In my free time, you’ll either find me in a handstand, listening to some Trifonov or busy with the D-PHYS Climate Ambassadors 😊
